All ServSuccess exams purchased through the website include online proctoring services by ProctorU. However, if your organization or school has purchased your exam on your behalf, they may be providing in-person proctoring for your exam session. After your application is approved you will need to be provided with a link to enroll into an exam session by a Registered Proctor. Please check with your manager or instructor for more details on how they will be managing your exam session.
You will have 180 days to complete your application from the time you launch your application by selecting “Start Application.”

If your exam is enabled for use with ProctorU services, after your application is approved you will receive an email with directions for scheduling your exam through ProctorU. If your exam was provided by your organization or school, a manager or instructor who is a Registered Proctor will need to provide you with an emailed link to enroll into an exam session. Once you’ve enrolled into an exam session your exam will appear on your My Learning & Exams page.
Employment and character references will have five (5) days from the request date to complete the form in the system.
Our team will review applications and provide a response within three (3) business days.
All ServSuccess certification exams consist of 100 multiple choice questions.
The passing scores for the ServSuccess certification exams were determined using a systematic and thorough standard-setting process. A diverse, representative panel of industry experts reviewed and came to consensus about the requirements of each career level and what a “minimally qualified” employee should be able to perform. The panel then reviewed each exam question to evaluate its difficulty level for a minimally qualified examinee. Finally, the question-level judgments were reviewed and discussed to ensure alignment across the group. Throughout the process the panel was guided by a psychometrician with extensive experience in standard setting.
Examinees who do not pass the exam will be allowed to retake the exam four (4) times within a one- (1)-year period without having to re-apply with at least 30 days between each attempt; each retake attempt will require a full exam purchase; after four failures, the examinee candidate will have to wait 12 months from the first attempt and then the candidate will be eligible to re-apply to sit for the exam again.
Please complete the request using the accommodation form and send to examsecurity@restaurant.org for review.
Proctor applicants who have provided insufficient or incomplete documentation to verify employment will have the application reopened and returned to them; they will have five (5) days to correct/update documentation. If the five (5) days pass without re-submission, the application will expire.
You have one (1) year from application approval to register for an exam session and take the exam (use exam credit) and any retakes (if applicable).
Upon passing a ServSuccess exam, a PDF of your professional certificate will be available for viewing and download on the My Learning & Exams page.

The passing scores to achieve certification on the ServSuccess exams are as follows:

- Certified Restaurant Professional (CRP) Exam:  72%

- Certified Restaurant Supervisor (CRS) Exam:  74%

- Certified Restaurant Manager (CRM) Exam:  75%

If you do not show for your scheduled ProctorU exam session or need to reschedule your exam less than 24 hours before your scheduled session, you will have to pay a fee before you can reschedule. It can take up to one (1) business day to allow rescheduling following fee payment.
A Certificate of Completion is issued to demonstrate that you have finished all the learning objectives for a specific course or group of courses and does not expire. A professional certification demonstrates mastery of a set of specific skills, knowledge and competencies regardless of how they were acquired. Professional certifications expire and require renewal in order to ensure their holders remain current masters in their field.
The passing score for each of the ServSuccess certification exams is different for a variety of reasons. The job requirements at each career level are different, so the exam questions assessing those requirements are different. Additionally, the exams are administered to different populations who likely have increasing levels of industry experience, as well as other differences. A research study was conducted to identify the passing scores for each specific exam. This study involved a panel of industry experts, which reviewed each exam and set the minimum score an examinee must achieve to be considered “minimally qualified” to perform the job being assessed. Because each exam is different, the resulting passing scores across the exams will not be uniform.
The passing scores for the ServSuccess certification exams were determined by a process utilizing the knowledge and experience of industry experts that defined minimal competence for each career level and evaluated the difficulty of each exam question. This process is different from determining degrees of proficiency (e.g., A, B, C, D, F) that is typical in academic exams.
No. We do not issue printed certificates for ServSuccess.
Proctoring Exams
Proctor applicants who have failed to pass the tutorial assessment can start a new application and attempt the tutorial quiz again immediately.
Proctor candidates get three (3) attempts to pass the tutorial assessment in the proctor application. Proctor applicants who have failed to pass the tutorial assessment three (3) times cannot attempt another application for one (1) year from the date of the first attempt.
If you don’t see your Organization as one of the options in the “Sponsor” dropdown menu, please select “Contact Us” in the footer of the website, open a Chat session with our Customer Care team, indicate that you’re trying to schedule an exam but don’t see your Organization as an Option.  Provide your Company Name, Address, City, State, Zip Code and Country and our team will have it added.
Once approved as a Registered Proctor, you will have access to an Exam Proctoring dashboard that enables you to create and schedule exams sessions, manage examinee registrations and start/stop sessions on exam day. Simply select Exam Proctoring from the Welcome menu at the top right to get started.
On the day and at the time of your exam session, from the Exam Proctoring screen, select “Manage” next to the session you created, select Control Panel and then select “Start Exam Session”.  The examinee should then see the ability to Launch the exam, at which time you’ll need to enter the password you created to unlock the session.
From the Exam Proctoring screen, select “Manage” next to the session you created, scroll down to the “Password to Unlock Exam” field in the form and click the eyeball icon to reveal the session password you created.
When the last examinee has submitted their exam, log on to ServSuccess.com and from the Exam Proctoring screen, select “Manage” next to the session you created, select Control Panel and then select “End Session” then “Publish Score” and “Close”.  At that time, both you and the examinee(s) will have access to the results of the exam.
Proctors will be required to renew their approval every three (3) years.
No. You will need to apply to become a Registered Proctor for ServSuccess separately.
The processes are very similar, the key difference being that applying to become a ServSuccess Registered Proctor takes place in our new exam management system and is done entirely online.
Exam sessions that have not been closed out by the proctor within 24 hours of the first exam being launched will be automatically closed by the system.
If you are responsible for proctoring exams for your organization or school, you will need to become a Registered Proctor in our exam management system so you can schedule and manage exam sessions for the online exams.

Your employees have up to one (1) year from the date of your purchase to launch and start using the products you assign to them. Once they launch a product it is considered redeemed. If they do not launch the product within one (1) year, the product will expire. Returns and exchanges are not possible for expired products.

No. As long as your employees use the same email address you used to assign the product(s) to them, the system will recognize that they are the intended user for the product(s) as they create their profile and assign the product(s)to them. Your employees, after creating their ServSuccess account, will be able to access the product(s) on their My Learning & Exams screen.
The ServSuccess pricing on the website is designed for lower volume implementations. As an industry business or operator you likely have a larger number of employee users and would benefit from an implementation approach that a member of our Sales team can help you design and price in a way that provides the most value.
No. Email address and phone number are unique for every ServSuccess profile and account.
This product access status is for any pre-defined bundles you may have purchased for your employees (e.g. interactive study guide and exam bundle). If an employee has launched and started using one of the products from the bundle but not the other, you will see that product marked as “partially redeemed”. Employees have up to one (1) year from the date of your purchase to launch and start using the products you assign to them. Once they launch a product it is considered redeemed.
The statuses on the Manage Product Access page mean the following:

  • Available: Products that you have purchased and are available for assignment
  • Assigned: Products that you have purchased and have been assigned to employees
  • Partially redeemed: Product bundles that you have assigned to employees that have unused items remaining in the bundle
  • Redeemed: Products that you have assigned to employees and have been launched and are being used
  • Expired: Products you purchased that were not launched or used within one (1) year of purchase
Once logged in, click on My Learnings and Exams. Click on Menu at the top of the screen and select Buyer's Report. Find the product and click on it to view status of learners. A training administrator dashboard for getting more details on learner progress is coming soon.
